Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

Image
I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Hibiscus Skin Firming & Hydrating Facial ❤

Image
Hey Beauties!! I grew up with a Hibiscus tree/plant in my yard, and I'd always go pick one for my hair. That tree no longer exists, but a family friend, very recently, decided to bring a few flowers to the house. I looked at them, admired them and almost immediately I thought, "I wonder if Hibiscus flowers are good for the skin?" Well you can easily guess what happened next... I Googled it, found a ton load of Hibiscus Skin Benefits, asked that friend to get more flowers, and now I'm sharing with you, one of the Natural Skin Treatments that I concocted. :) It's really exciting how good Hibiscus flowers are for the skin! I learned that it is coined the "Botox Plant/Flower" because of it's skin firming abilities. Many skincare product companies also use Hibiscus in their products for its skin-loving benefits. In fact, NewBeauty.com in their article, The Healing Power of Flowers had the following to say about the Hibiscus Flower. Hibiscus: Revi...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Tea & Coffee Body Scrub ❤

Image
Hey Cupcakes!! I've been longing to make and share a body scrub that rejuvenates the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and revealing a healthier glowing complexion. I've discovered that Coffee is really great at improving the skin's texture, blood circulation and it also helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite. Caffeine reduces the size of the skin's cells as it draws water from them, constricting the blood vessels slightly so that the skin appears more firm, smooth with an even tone. I'm also in love with the ingredients that were used in the  Sleepytime(R)  Herbal Tea by Celestial Seasonings so much so, that I decided to include it in my body scrub! The Sleepytime blend includes Chamomile, Spearmint, Lemongrass, Tilia Flowers, Blackberry Leaves, Orange Blossoms, Hawthorn and Rosebuds. Combined, these ingredients help to soothe, cleanse, exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin leaving it radiant! To make my Tea & Coffee Body S...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Garlic Infused EVOO Acne Treatment ❤

Hey Loves!! I've been doing quite a bit of reading about garlic since I've heard that it can be used to help heal acne. Garlic has anti-bacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antioxidant properties which makes it great for healing acne. Garlic can heal bacterial related acne. If an overproduction of oils has caused your acne and blemishes, garlic will work great! Garlic can be eaten to fight acne from the inside out. A clove a day can help your overall health. I've tested and tried a topical acne treatment that can really help your acne to dry up and disappear!! You'll Need: INGREDIENTS 6 Cloves of Garlic, Finely Grated 8 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) EQUIPMENT Hand Grater Small (Ceramic) Plates Tablespoons Small Glass Jar Flat Face/Art Brush (Very Dense) Face Cloth METHOD ❤ Clean, wash and grate 6 cloves of garlic. Hair Products Haul!!!

Image
Hey Cupcakes! You guys know that I love taking care of my hair and that I always try to get good products that will help it to maintain its health. I love shopping for hair products (especially when I've saved up to do so) but I never shared a Haul with you before... so here it goes. :) I went to Bella Cosmetics and Personal Care located on Wilson Road (to the left of Royal Castle), Scarborough Tobago. It's a relatively new place and their prices are a little on the high side but they have almost everything I wanted... and I just love the set up of everything in the store. They even have a section specially for Natural Hair Care with products from Miss Jessie's, Mixed Chicks, Shea Moisture (Yasss!!), Nene's Secret, As I Am and lots more. I was quite in my glee! I spent too long in there! But I managed to leave with some hair goodies that I've been dying to try. My hair is currently cut in a short style which makes it very versatile as far as wear is concerned ...
