Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Tea & Coffee Body Scrub ❤

Hey Cupcakes!!
I've been longing to make and share a body scrub that rejuvenates the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and revealing a healthier glowing complexion.

I've discovered that Coffee is really great at improving the skin's texture, blood circulation and it also helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite.

Caffeine reduces the size of the skin's cells as it draws water from them, constricting the blood vessels slightly so that the skin appears more firm, smooth with an even tone.

I'm also in love with the ingredients that were used in the Sleepytime(R)  Herbal Tea by Celestial Seasonings so much so, that I decided to include it in my body scrub!

The Sleepytime blend includes Chamomile, Spearmint, Lemongrass, Tilia Flowers, Blackberry Leaves, Orange Blossoms, Hawthorn and Rosebuds. Combined, these ingredients help to soothe, cleanse, exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin leaving it radiant!

To make my Tea & Coffee Body Scrub, You'll Need:

INGREDIENTS

1 Tea Mug of Hot Water
1 Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea Bag
2 Heaping Tablespoons Ground Coffee (After Brewing)
2 Spade Spoons of Olive Oil (2 tsp. will work)
1 Spade Spoon of Castor Oil (1 tsp. will work)
1 Tiny Salt Spoon of Tea (Sleeptime) (About 1/2 Teaspoon)
1 Large Capsule of Vitamin E Oil

EQUIPMENT

Tablespoons
Teaspoons
Small Glass Mixing Bowl
Small Glass Jar
Scissors

METHOD

Steep the Celestial Seasoning tea bag in a mug of just boiled water.
I poured mine from my mug into a larger bowl and left it to steep overnight in the refrigerator.

Remove tea bag after steeping and cut it open using a scissors.

Empty the contents of the tea bag into a small glass bowl for mixing.

For this body scrub, I used a Britt Coffee Bag that was just steeped.

All that is needed is 2 heaping tablespoons of the ground coffee. I cut opened the coffee bag just as I did the tea bag. You can use more coffee, changing the quantity of the other ingredients to suit.

I also added 1/2 a tsp. of the steeped Sleepytime tea to the Body Scrub mixture.
To further indulge in the goodness offered by all the ingredients contained in the Sleepytime tea, you can, prior to scrubbing, pour the tea into a bath and soak (this will call for lots more Sleepytime tea bags though.)
If you don't have a bath tub, you can place the warm liquid into a spray bottle and spray your entire body. Before doing this a hot shower or a steamer may be beneficial in opening up your pores to absorb the tea.

Adding the contents of a Vitamin E Oil Capsule gives the body scrub added moisturizing properties.
Vitamin E oil supports skin cell growth (facilitating the speedy regeneration of skin cells).
Vitamin E Oil also provides the skin with antioxidants that block free radicals, helping to heal skin blemishes, scars and lighten dark spots.
Vitamin E oil is also used in natural skin treatments as a natural preservative.

Adding Brown Sugar to the body scrub not only helps to exfoliate the skin, but it also helps to lock in moisture with it's humectant properties. As a humectant, sugar can help reduce skin irritations caused by dry skin.

Adding White/Clear Castor Oil to the body scrub can help delay signs of aging. Castor oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin to soften, hydrate, increase elastin and collagen production.
It can also be used to heal mild acne, cracked heels and prevent stretch marks.

Mix all the ingredients together! That's it.
This body scrub can last for 10-14 days refrigerated.
I recommend using it every 5 days to remove impurities from the skin, revealing smooth, radiant, soft, moisturized skin.

I prefer to store my scrub in a glass bowl for future use.

I usually apply this scrub to mainly my legs, arms and my back, working in circular motions so as to not tear the skin. I concentrate on areas such as my knees, elbows, heels, stretch marks and back acne. I apply it just after taking a shower, and I rinse it off with only warm water. I do so to allow the oils used to remain on the skin and work there magic.
I do not recommend this as a facial scrub because the coffee grounds used might be too rough causing the skin to tear or be extremely sensitive thereafter.

❤ Do Enjoy Your Tea & Coffee Body Scrub! ❤

Hope it's a Delight :)
