Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

Image
I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

Tiff's Chai Tea | ☕ Tea Time With Tiff ☕

Image
If you're a tea person, then I'm sure you probably had Chai Tea before right? I've actually tasted Twinning's Indian Chai Tea! I loved it, looked at the label and then decided to make my very own... Chai, Tiff-Style! I didn't have all the ingredients listed on the label but I actually had all these great items on hand, so I twisted and tweaked, working with what I had and finishing with a tea that's tasty and actually great for you! What the Good Stuff's Made of: Cinnamon Powder Raw Ginger Grated Nutmeg Vanilla Essence Whole Clove ... and of course, water! I use my eyes to measure... you can too! Just remember, the more of anything you put, the more it overpowers the taste of the finished product. With that being said, I only put a couple drops of the essence because the one I use is strong; however, I love ginger and cinnamon powder, so I was generous with those. Throw everything into the pot, about two cups of water, a...

Orange Peel Tea | ☕ Tea Time With Tiff ☕

Image
Have you ever had Orange Peel Tea? This is definitely one of my favourite teas because its both delicious and easy to make. About to have an orange for breakfast? Don't throw away the skin. After peeling, you can hang it on a hook in your kitchen and as the days go by, watch it dry (this is what my mama used to do). I actually just leave it in an open bowl where the air can dry it. Thorough open-air drying can take a few days... I just let it do it's thing while I have another type of tea! Which ever way you choose to dry the peel is up to you. When it's ready, it's usually stiff. How to make the tea? In a tea pan, put the amount of water, equivalent to the amount of tea you want to drink. I measured using my tea cup/mug. Rinse piece of the dry peel and place it in the pan.     Let the peel boil. It is ready when the water turns yellow-orange... the colour of the peel. Pour the tea into your favourite teacup. I used 1 tbsp Brown Su...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Hibiscus Skin Firming & Hydrating Facial ❤

Image
Hey Beauties!! I grew up with a Hibiscus tree/plant in my yard, and I'd always go pick one for my hair. That tree no longer exists, but a family friend, very recently, decided to bring a few flowers to the house. I looked at them, admired them and almost immediately I thought, "I wonder if Hibiscus flowers are good for the skin?" Well you can easily guess what happened next... I Googled it, found a ton load of Hibiscus Skin Benefits, asked that friend to get more flowers, and now I'm sharing with you, one of the Natural Skin Treatments that I concocted. :) It's really exciting how good Hibiscus flowers are for the skin! I learned that it is coined the "Botox Plant/Flower" because of it's skin firming abilities. Many skincare product companies also use Hibiscus in their products for its skin-loving benefits. In fact, NewBeauty.com in their article, The Healing Power of Flowers had the following to say about the Hibiscus Flower. Hibiscus: Revi...

Cupcake.D.Lab: ❤ Tea & Coffee Body Scrub ❤

Image
Hey Cupcakes!! I've been longing to make and share a body scrub that rejuvenates the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and revealing a healthier glowing complexion. I've discovered that Coffee is really great at improving the skin's texture, blood circulation and it also helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite. Caffeine reduces the size of the skin's cells as it draws water from them, constricting the blood vessels slightly so that the skin appears more firm, smooth with an even tone. I'm also in love with the ingredients that were used in the  Sleepytime(R)  Herbal Tea by Celestial Seasonings so much so, that I decided to include it in my body scrub! The Sleepytime blend includes Chamomile, Spearmint, Lemongrass, Tilia Flowers, Blackberry Leaves, Orange Blossoms, Hawthorn and Rosebuds. Combined, these ingredients help to soothe, cleanse, exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin leaving it radiant! To make my Tea & Coffee Body S...
