Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

My Current Skin Care Routine: Face & Neck (March 2013)

If you know me personally, you'll know that I love and enjoy taking care of my skin. I hate having blemishes and breakouts, but I understand that it's a part of life so I don't let them ruin my day at all.

Years of experimenting with many products and trying new, sometimes taboo stuff, has lead me to believe now, that an all natural skin care routine is the way to go.
I'm currently in the "Transitioning Stage" because I haven't gotten rid of all my non -natural products yet, and I'm still experimenting/testing different natural treatments to see which is the best for my skin.

My Skin Care Routine (Face & Neck) is very, very simple.

NIGHT TIME:

At night I do follow the basic Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) that has been working for me. (Follow the Link for more info).
To further moisturize after the OCM, I apply two drops of the oil blend to my palm and massage my face, and it's off to bed.

DAYTIME:

Cleanse
When I awake from my sleep and do all the necessities (worship, eat, brush my teeth, shower),  I'll cleanse my face using Black Soap (African Formula), which isn't the "real thing", but it will do for now until my package of the Raw Black Soap from Ghana arrives (Can't Wait!!). The African Formula Black Soap as seen below, was purchased at Pennywise Cosmetics Trincity Mall Trinidad for $8.95 TT.

Tone
To tone, I use Humphrey's Witch Hazel Astringent which contains 14% Alcohol (Will be opting for a 100% natural, alcohol free toner when this is finished e.g. ACV). I use Daily Touch Facial Cotton Pads to apply the Astringent to my face and neck.

Moisturize
If you've read my recent Blog Posts, you'll know that I currently use two face moisturizers, mainly to protect my skin from the harmful rays of the.
I use Clean & Clear Morning Glow Oil Free Moisturizer With SPF15 and Pond's Clarant B3. (Follow the links for product reviews).

When I plan to spend my day at home, I'll add one drop of my Oil Cleanse mixture to my Clarant B3 and apply to my face added moisture and the benefits of the oil.

Weekly Exfoliation
Once per week I've been exfoliating my face, neck & body with St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Blemishes & Blackheads.  I'm in search of an all natural face and body exfoliator that removes dead skin and dirt without tearing the skin.

There are many other treatments that I let my skin indulge in (will do in-depth blog posts about them in the near future) . Listed Here:
❀ All Natural Aloe Vera Gel Treatment
❀ Baking Soda Exfoliation
❀ Brown Sugar Exfoliation
