Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

Image
I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

Faith In The Journey | Dr. Dominique Baptiste DDS

We have so much to be thankful for! Yes, "WE". You do, and I do! If you are alive and reading this, God has blessed you in a mighty way. Your being alive is a testimony to His power to protect, provide and keep His promises. It also means that He has given you additional time to live out His purpose in your life. All this is up to you because He has blessed you with the wonderful gift of choice. It's up to you to choose love over hate, to choose positivism over negativity and to choose faith over fear. It's really not an easy road. While we are choosing, we have the enemy to contend with. It's important that we remember that we can't overcome his obstacles alone. God is with us every step of the way,  with stretched out hands. Every decision for Him is an acceptance of His hand. The enemy's job is to drive a wedge between us and God and he's had years of studying us, under his belt. To keep the connection between us and God tight, we have to be devot...

Women of Power 2018

I've been on an Inspiration high this year! It's been a habit of mine to continuously be seeking to learn, grow and live a fulfilling life with all the information that comes my way. I've actually been watching interviews and videos from entrepreneurs, people who have been successful in their careers and even people who have lots of experience with life and love. It's so easy to see the negative posts, comments, news reports, twitter feeds and shows. I believe that we must make it an active part of our day to screen out the unwanted and highlight the positive. By this, I don't mean to avoid the news and refrain from social media, I mean that you should decide what you allow to take up your time and to rule your mind. One way I do this is by ensuring that I follow pages, people and hashtags that only share positivism. Another way is by avoiding aimlessly scrolling for long periods of time. With eyes of discernment, I managed to surf the waves o...

Renew My Mind!

Image
During one of my monthly Personal Consecration Weeks, God guided me to resources that were aimed at refocusing my relationship with Him; refocusing my life in general. As prayer and scripture reading, even Google searching progressed, I quickly realised the importance of taking the time to evaluate my entire life! Come to think of it, this is the ideology I had when I first started My Personal Consecration Week! It is necessary to review your spirituality, your health, your weaknesses and strengths, your priorities, your financial decisions, your progress. #RenewMyMind came alive when I read Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right sprit within me." This scripture shined light on the need for my heart to be cleansed. I thought of ways in which, my heart, that is, my mind, would have strayed from God's plan and purpose for me. I also thought of belief systems and habits that needed realignment with His word. I learned that most times when ...

It's Gonna Be Alright!

It feels like forever since I’ve posted. The last blogging season of my life ended in 2015. Three years ago, I graduated from The University Of The West Indies, St. Augustine Trinidad with a First Degree in Accounting and moved back home to Tobago to begin my job searching escapades. Fast Forward to 2018, three jobs, three boyfriends and about three+ life lessons later; I’m once again an unemployed student; job searching.   To the Seeing Eye and the Surface Scraper, it may seem as if I’m in the same place; one of none-to-little progress and mundane living. My soul has, however, done a lot of growing up since 2015. It’s safe to say that life thus, has been an awesome roller coaster ride! Well... maybe not so awesome at times. Well... maybe most of the time. Sighsss. If you know me, you’ll know that I thrive on inspiration and that my blogging is fueled by my life experiences. I’ve neglected to blog because I’ve chosen to not cherish the blessings in mapp...
