Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

Renew My Mind!

During one of my monthly Personal Consecration Weeks, God guided me to resources that were aimed at refocusing my relationship with Him; refocusing my life in general. As prayer and scripture reading, even Google searching progressed, I quickly realised the importance of taking the time to evaluate my entire life! Come to think of it, this is the ideology I had when I first started My Personal Consecration Week! It is necessary to review your spirituality, your health, your weaknesses and strengths, your priorities, your financial decisions, your progress.

#RenewMyMind came alive when I read Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right sprit within me." This scripture shined light on the need for my heart to be cleansed. I thought of ways in which, my heart, that is, my mind, would have strayed from God's plan and purpose for me. I also thought of belief systems and habits that needed realignment with His word.

I learned that most times when scripture speaks about the 'heart' it refers to the mind, the thoughts. In this light, Proverbs 4:23 gives further direction. It admonishes, "Keep they heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." Wow!! God's word is sweet. He really wants us to be mindful about the thoughts we have, the things that get our attention, the influence we surrender to. He wants us to be diligent; he wants us to be careful and conscientious, to be intentional about our thoughts.

Renewing My Mind to me is firstly rejuvenating my spirituality, followed by giving fresh life to my goals; being open minded and seeking a deeper understanding of what's important to me. It is also ensuring that I actively seek positivism and filter the negative influences. It's not that I will be unaware of the world, but that I will choose how much of the world controls my thoughts and eventually my actions.
