Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

It's Gonna Be Alright!

It feels like forever since I’ve posted. The last blogging season of my life ended in 2015. Three years ago, I graduated from The University Of The West Indies, St. Augustine Trinidad with a First Degree in Accounting and moved back home to Tobago to begin my job searching escapades. Fast Forward to 2018, three jobs, three boyfriends and about three+ life lessons later; I’m once again an unemployed student; job searching.

To the Seeing Eye and the Surface Scraper, it may seem as if I’m in the same place; one of none-to-little progress and mundane living. My soul has, however, done a lot of growing up since 2015. It’s safe to say that life thus, has been an awesome roller coaster ride! Well... maybe not so awesome at times. Well... maybe most of the time. Sighsss.

If you know me, you’ll know that I thrive on inspiration and that my blogging is fueled by my life experiences. I’ve neglected to blog because I’ve chosen to not cherish the blessings in mapping the journey - in fear of not seeing actual development. But anyone that knows anything knows that sometimes we fail to see the growth that can occur outside of the tangible measurable milestones that society has placed on our shoulders.

Each New Podcast Episode has a Corresponding Blog Post! ;)

“Travel the World, marry, build forever-home, buy a car, have two kids with a stable career by 30” has been the Dream Model for generations. Many have based their lives on accomplishing the Dream Model and claiming life a success if it is achieved. However life has often taken a disappointing turn, and the Dream Modeler goes from tracking milestones to dragging millstones. A heavy thing it is when our pursuits are not from a place of purpose.

I believe that every encounter, every situation, every experience good, bad and ugly has afforded me opportunities for growth, development and purpose alignment. It sometimes takes retrospective analysis to unearth the gems that shine light on God’s specific purpose for one’s life. I also believe that success is in the journey and not in any one destination.

I’m here, I’m present, and I’m inspired. Join me, be my accountability partner, as I share gems from the last few years and also continue to map my journey. I have faith that everything is going to be alright, as long as I follow God's leading.
