Self Love Requires Honesty | #SLS

I've come to realize, the hard way, that I've had and still have a lot of healing to do! Self Love is not an overnight thing *insert Percy Sledge song*. It takes time to reach a comfortable level of contentment with self. It's a journey; one of upward toil but one of positive growth. In our journey of Self Love, it is integral that we seek to know ourselves, accept who we are and live freely in our truth.  In seeking to know and embrace our truest selves, a process of self reflection and introspection helps. The trauma; experiences that we go through have fashioned us into the persons that we are today. Our personalities, our self esteem; the way we interact with others, our imposed standards, our expectations are all influenced by the way we see ourselves; by the way we think and feel about ourselves. It's 'human nature' to first be negative before positive and unappreciative before we see good, so in order to change our thinki...

2019 #GOALS | Part 1

I'm currently in the process of making plans for the new year and I was inspired to share my thoughts and to start a conversation on special causes & awareness, resolutions, goal setting, and creating a financial plan.

This week is Crohns & Colitis Awareness Week. Spreading Awareness of these Diseases are important to me because a friend of mine who fought Crohns valiantly, died in 2016. Supporting the awareness helps me preserve and honour his memory.

Joel Reginald Richard, you will always be an example of true tenacity and what it is to live a purpose-driven life regardless of life's burdens. I'm also inspired by Actor, Tyler James Williams'  (Chris from 'Everybody Hates Chris') story. He's a Crohns Survivor. #ManOfPower

In order to create a plan for any aspect of my life, I've found it necessary to reflect on the past. Clear minded reflection with analytical eyes can help with the formulation of fresh ideas, renewed vision that seeks to avoid the reoccurrence of mishaps that rides on the positive outcomes of the past. Retrospection is basically essential, prior to moving forward.

♥ #TeaTimeWithTiff
This Week's Tea is Caribbean Dream's Turmeric (Haldi) With Ginger. Natural Herbal Tea; Caffeine Free. I usually put the tea bags to steep in a tea pan for a few minutes. I don't put the tea bag in my tea cup/mug because the bags were not sealed tightly. I strain, sweeten to taste and sip delightfully!

♥ Planning For Next Year? Have you done a 'Year In Review'?

♥ General Planning Tips:
  1. Set SMART Goals for each aspect of your life: spiritual, physical, financial, social.
  2. Start Planning Now!
  3. Take Action Now! If possible, why not start completing tasks towards your goals. Start exercising, send out the job applications, start the small business.
  4. Set markers to help track goal progress.
  5. Have an accountability partner to help you stay on track.
  6. Create the right environment for goal achievement, or find ways to work with what you have now until you get exactly what you want.
  7. Set a Focus Theme (like "Love Source" for example) that helps with stability and motivation for each of your main goals. You can also create mottos/mantras to keep you inspired ("Flowing Not Forcing" for example).

Understanding our Values, Wants & Needs is the first step in creating our financial plan for 2019. These determine the financial decisions we'll make.

♥  Financial Goals
Example of Goals That Can Be In Your 2019 Financial Plan
  • Savings - You may want to create an emergency fund. Decide on the amount you want the fund to have and a realistic timeline. As an emergency savings it may need to cover 3 to 6 months of living expenses, insurance deductions etc. When you reach your goal you can use the money that was devoted to it for another goal.
  • Housing - You may have homeownership plans. Remember that goals must be SMART. Do your research, find out what sacrifice you may need to make. Talk to your bankers and be open to them analysing your current financial position to determine the possibility. They may even give you guidance on how to increase your credit score.
♥ You need to monitor your goals. Think about the Time Value of Money. As the price of your goals increase over time, you'll need to make adjustments to the steps taken to achieve the goals.
